According to traditional interpretation, the first man will spend time in prison. His dream shows he will work hard – pressing grapes – and then he must wait a long time – his time in prison – for the fruits of his labor to be realized – the maturation of the wine.

The second prisoner, on the other hand, will be found innocent. In his dream he is walking, and he is feeding birds from a loaf of bread on his head. The birds symbolize freedom – and can not be kept in any location. The second man is a friend of the birds – he is a friend of freedom – and freedom will protect him.
