Charles Lambert McPhee, founder

Charles launched dreamdoctor.com in 1997, making it one of the longest running websites dedicated to dreams and their interpretation. He was the former Director of the Sleep Apnea Patient Treatment Program at the Sleep Disorders Center of Santa Barbara, California; the former coordinator of the Sleep Disorders Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA, and the former coordinator of the sleep research laboratory at the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, MD. Charles was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) in June of 2006 and died in May of 2011.
Charles authored 3 books on dreams, including Ask the Dream Doctor. He hosted the popular weeknight Dream Doctor Radio Show for six years prior to his ALS diagnosis. His radio show started in Santa Barbara, CA and quickly spread to markets from New York to Seattle, Los Angeles to Miami and many in between. Charles began his academic studies and research of dreams as a sociology major at Princeton University. He wrote his thesis on lucid dreaming and graduated (along with Michele Obama, who was in same department) in 1985. His interest in disseminating what he had learned about dreams led him to earn a Masters Degree in Communication from USC. The youngest of four, Charles grew up in Potomic. MD and is survived by his wife, Petra, and two daughters.

George Oliva

George became the publisher of dreamdoctor.com in 2008. He began working with Charles McPhee in 1999. He worked with Charles for 12 years and has spent 26 years immersed in the language of dreams, based on Charles’ scientific research.

A Princeton graduate, George began working with Charles McPhee as his talent manager, then as his radio producer and syndicator and ultimately as his business partner in the effort to help people around the world understand the language dreams. George will be performing his original show: “The Language of Dreams: A Crash Course. It’s Symboler Than You Think” at the 2026 Edinburgh Festival in August.

Frank Runyeon

Frank Runyeon is an Emmy®-nominated (2016) accomplished dream interpreter, lecturer, and performer, hand-picked by Charles McPhee, to succeed him as the Dream Doctor®.
Frank’s interest in and study of dreams and symbols date back to his undergraduate years at Princeton University. Frank is probably best known as one of the most popular soap opera stars of the 1980’s. He played Steve Andropoulos on As the World Turns, opposite Meg Ryan. He also starred as Father Michael Donnelly on Santa Barbara, as well as Simon Romero on General Hospital opposite Emma Samms. His prime-time appearances included recurring roles on LA Law, Falcon Crest and Melrose Place. He also starred in feature films such as Sudden Death and Bolero. Frank is nominated for the 2016 Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series for his role as a psychotherapist and angel on The Young and the Restless. In the 90’s, Frank realized that there were far more important stories and truths to tell than those of a soap opera bad boy. He returned to school and earned a Masters Degree, with honors, from General Theological Seminary. Frank tours the country performing and lecturing on what he has learned about faith, life and dreams.
